This is a really cute book! I'm secretly hoping that our baby's first word will be Dada because I know it would mean the world to my husband. I'm going to have to read this to her everyday.
Our toddler loves this book. She is very into animal sounds right now, so she loves hearing us say them and mimic the sounds back. SPOILER ALERT: on the last page all the animals say DADA! at the same time except the duck who still says quack (seriously duck?). She now knows this and yells DADA as soon as we turn the last page and then says quack quielty. It's great!
At first I hated this book. I couldn't wait to come and rate it with 3 stars because C'mon Jimmy Fallon be creative right? Then I thought about how much I love Jimmy Fallon and what I expected a book by him to be like. Honestly, it's exactly as I expected and the pictures are great. My daughter is only 3 months so hopefully she says Dada. Her dad will love it. She already likes when we read this book to her and she likes to look at it. I'm thinking once she gets a little older she'll really enjoy reading this with us and making the noises. It's a book for babies so if you were expecting a story line like the hungry caterpillar you're not in the right place.
Bought for my autistic son who is a dad and doesn't speak very much, let alone read to his children. I am a teacher who knows how important it is for kids to read regularly starting at infancy. This book is awesome for my son and his new little guy. A favorite book for me to read to my kids when they were little, were books with animal sounds. This is perfect! I only rated it a 4, because it doesn't have much substance, so it probably isn't for everyone.
this book WORKS! When I first bought it I said "if jimmy fallon wouldnt have wrote this, it wouldn't have even been published! There's like 20 words in the WHOLE book and at least half of those are DADA." But I bought it for father's day anyways and my daughter LOVES IT! and so does her dada! She's 18 months old and will grab the book and take it to her dada, chanting "dada" the whole way! Even when he's not home she will pick it up and search the house for him to read it. Mama isn't allowed to read it! lol Its great and definitely worth the money!**disclaimer** my baby had already started speaking before we bought the book, so her first word was technically momma,,, BUT had we got it before, i totally believe her real first word would have been dada
My daughter already was saying "Dada" but still loves this book. She stares at each animal before we turn the page. I think the simplicity of the words and images is just right for her. I bought it for Father's Day and we're still reading it, almost every night. She was 8 months when we bought it and 10 months, now.
I've been reading to my son since he was in the womb so he has always been very good during story time. He also likes picking things out, whether it's pjs, books, or a hat. Since purchasing this book it's all my son wants. He'll crawl over to his books and grab this one. My record with it is 8 times in a row. I change it to Mama so our son says both but not with intent so no official first word yet.
One-star reviewers, y'all understand that this is a book for illiterate children, right? It comes as a board book, and you're clamoring for narrative structure? Got to manage those expectations.
