PRAISE FOR THE SELECTION SERIES: “A real page-turner. Romance, royalty, and revolution in a reality-show format serve Cass’ boldly rendered heroine well in her quest for justice and love.” (ALA Booklist)“Reality T.V. meets dystopian fairy tale in Kiera Cass’s delightful debut. Charming, captivating, and filled with just the right amount of swoon!” (Kiersten White, New York Times bestselling author of the Paranormalcy trilogy)“An engrossing tale reminiscent of Shannon Hale’s Princess Academy and Ally Condie’s Matched. Fairy-tale lovers will lose themselves in America’s alternate reality and wish that the next glamorous sequel were waiting for them.” (School Library Journal)“Deliciously entertaining.” (Publishers Weekly)“Cass’s immensely readable debut novel is a less drastic Hunger Games, with elaborate fashion and trappings. The fast-paced action will have readers gasping for the upcoming sequel.” (ALA Booklist)“A cross between The Hunger Games (minus the bloodsport) and The Bachelor (minus the bloodsport), this trilogy launch is a lot of fun. Cass deftly builds the chemistry between America and Maxon, while stroking the embers of America’s first, forbidden love.” (Publishers Weekly)

OKAY. First of all, I must say that I love this book. It is an amazing way to end an amazing series. BUT DO NOT BUY IT FROM AMAZON. Apparently Kiera Cass made three different versions of the book. This particular one does not contain the last chapter of the book. It goes straight into an epilog. If you buy this book from Barns and Nobles ONLY then you will get the last chapter. But if you are like me and preordered the book you do not get the last chapter that starts "Six Years Later". If you want the full experience you cannot get it from amazon. I found out the hard way and was so very very disappointed. If you buy it from Target then you can get the special addition in "color" book that has amazing fan art... but not the last chapter. This is not amazons fault by the way. It is the publishers fault for breaking up the books in such a bad way. I personally find this very annoying and I believe if you are a fan you will too.

SPOILERS AHEADI'm someone who LOVED The Selection series, and waited impatiently for each book. And while many of my friends/family didn't care for Eadlyn and "The Heir," I loved it! I was heavily rooting for one of the suitors (turns out to be the same one all of Illea was rooting for) loving their fairy tale potential.Because I love romances where the hero/heroine don't like one another (or as in this case, are openly hostile to one another!) and end up falling in love. And we were well on our way down that path in the first book, with Kile getting kisses and attention and much more from Eadlyn.Sadly, and I don't know why she did this or what Cass was hoping to accomplish, but it all got blown to hell. After standing close to translator Erik (for useless character Henri that shouldn't have been kept around as long as he was. So ridiculous to imagine that Eadlyn could marry a man she literally couldn't even speak to), in a moment Eadlyn knows SOULMATES ARE REAL and LOVE IS REAL and ERIK IS THE ONE.Just like that. Boom.Kile is totally out of the picture (because Eadlyn loves him, but she doesn't love love him) and it felt forced and fake and like it was thrown in as Cass's attempt at PLOT TWIST! It was poorly done and poorly executed and I find myself feeling extremely frustrated and let down. Maybe it was supposed to be an obstacle? With Erik not being part of the Selection? Which would be a dumb reason, because Kile had inherent obstacles and issues built in with his background, family and desires for his future that could have created all sorts of problems they would have had to conquer together.Another issue is that despite this being a romance at heart, there's not actually any romance. At all. Eadlyn is juggling all her suitors, not having any real or honest feelings for any of them (until that MOMENT with Erik, of course). It's very unlike The Selection where America has to deal with her feelings for her old boyfriend and her potential ones for Maxon. Only two suitors. Which gave us a chance for Maxon and America to fall in love, and for us to see it.Eadlyn has dozens of potential beaus. As I began this book, it took me a while to remember who was who and why she even liked them (except for Kile). Her attention was spread too thin, and I found her falling in love totally unbelievable and forced and as I've mentioned repeatedly, was very disappointing. If you liked "The Heir" and were rooting for Kile, I'd suggest not reading this book and pretending it all turned out the way you wanted it to. I wish I had.

Once again, very disappointed in the publishing strategy of these books. Not publishing the most recent instalments as a 2-part series is frustrating to the audience. Books may end with an expected continuation narrative, but the story arc should make sense as a stopping point with character and plot development. Stopping midnarrative shows a shortsighted publications plan to get money faster. The author should renegotiate her contract and know that her audience will support her efforts to get a better editorial process in place, grow her world, and get paid for her very promising work.

For someone who thoroughly enjoyed the initial trilogy, the likelihood of the last installment reaching the high bar that was set, was high. However, similiar to what other readers have reported, the two books to follow were nothing short of mediocre. Save to say, I was disappointed. It was obvious that the author had given up the original story and was attempting to milk the storyline for all it was worth. I'd say that these last two books successfully took away the uniqueness of the story. As the cherry on top, if you want to reach the end of the tale, you have to struggle through the main character's bratty attitude and self-entitledness in all of the first book. If you want to end off this series well and satisfied, I recommend sticking with the first three installments and avoiding the let down at the end.

I feel like this book was too rushed. If you read my review for the last book, I pretty much guessed how it would end, but I am sure many were generally surprised at her choice while reading this? I am not sure (I haven't read any reviews myself yet, but now that I finished it, I will see what others stated).Eadlyn had been getting to know her Selection better in this book, but I feel like she really didn't spend much time with them at all even if things were a bit chaotic in the kingdom. If I compare this to the first three books, I think there was more of a romantic development shown between Eadlyn's parents than these last two books did in regards to her own relationships with the guys.It wasn't a bad book, I just feel like this left me with too many questions. At the very end of the book certain things were revealed by Maxon to his daughter that do not really even make sense from when reading the first three books and the in between stories. I am just a little let down by the way this story's development went.It all pretty much vomited up at the end. I think this book needed another 100-250 pages included.I recommend readers to just stop after the third book.

If "God Is Beautiful" sometimes reads like a text written by an academic for consumption by academics, it's because it was Navid Kermani's doctoral dissertation. Kermani is a German-Iranian novelist, Islam scholar, and sometime political commentator. This work is not new; it was originally published in 1999. But it is important. Kermani's intention is to convince the reader that "an exploration of Islam as a religion of art could be at least as fruitful as the studies that have customarily examined it as a religion of Iaw." The basis for this reasoning is Islam's doctrine of I'jaz and its implications. I'jaz asserts that the Quran is formally and aesthetically too accomplished to have been composed by a human and is inimitable, always having maintained its superiority on those counts when faced with human challengers. This is not just theoretical, as the miracle of Quranic language is Islam's only and defining miracle, and the aesthetic dimension of the text "is of central importance to the Muslim self-image" and to the faithful's experience of God.Kermani draws on an impressive mastery of modern and classical European philosophy and Islamic literature, theology, and philology to make his point. He also incorporates a wide array of ideas from the fields of theology, linguistics, literary theory, aesthetics, philology, Islamic historiography, and relevant commentary from writers whom he admires, such as Kafka, Umberto Eco, and Octavio Paz. Sometimes the references seem a bit much, perhaps intended to impress academics, but my experience of German works of literary and cultural theory and history is that they tend to incorporate ideas from many sources in the text, even if it is meant for publication rather than a doctoral committee. I don't think many readers will recognize all the references to theorists from diverse cultures across a millennium of time, but that is not an impediment to understanding. Kermani is a great fan of the philologist of Arabic literature Angelika Neuwirth, with whose work I was unfamiliar before reading "God Is Beautiful" and now feel compelled to read.I should emphasize that Kermani's focus is not on the Quran, itself, but on its reception by an audience, i.e. it is received aesthetically, and what that has meant, and continues to mean, for Muslims. Kermani makes no claim that the early stories of the Quran's reception that resulted in instant conversions and sometimes even instant death are literally true. But they are part of the cultural memory of Muslims and therefore affect their historical self-image and understanding of God. Kermani begins by introducing us to the linguistic context into which the Quran entered in the 7th century and analyzing a long list of stories in which individuals were so struck by the power of Quranic language that it altered their lives and values. This seems repetitive, but it is essential to have a basis in how the Quran was received, whether myth or true, when reading the subsequent chapters. The Quran has always been a work that defied genre conventions, so Kermani explores its strong poeticity, even though its structure is not literally poetry. If there is one thing that Kermani insists that readers understand about the Quran, it is that the Quran is an oral text, designed to be spoken and heard. Its linguistic structure reflects that it was intended to be recited. The Quran was spoken by mostly illiterate reciters to a mostly illiterate audience, before it was written down. "People are more strongly moved by the melody than by the meaning of the Quran." Kermani takes us through the development of rules for articulation, pronunciation, and prosody in Quran recitation, some history of recitation and of reception. He compares the reception of the Quran to the sacraments in Christianity as "mimetic acts in which the believer re-creates the situation of the revelation." The chapter about the miracle of the Quranic language is, surprisingly, the most tedious, as Kermani summarizes and analyzes the works of Al-Jurjani, an 11th century Persian orthodox theologian, and Al-Baqillani, a slightly older critic from Baghdad, who are among the most renowned literary critics of the Quran and defenders of I'jaz.Kermani asks the question: Is Muhammed, who composed the Quran in its original form or received it from God, a genius, in the sense of the Enlightenment ideal of an artistic genius? Prophets and poets were one in the same in ancient cultures, and the European concept of artistic genius has much in common with Islamic concept of the Prophet. The book's final chapter discusses Sufi accounts of the reception of the Quran. Sufis take their reverence for the Beautiful and "sensitivity for everything acoustic" to an advanced level in stories of hearing the Quran. It is an existential experience, literally. The listeners tend to drop dead. Kermani is opinionated, and "God Is Beautiful" is not always easy to read. I was so captivated, though, that I never found myself distracted while reading. Kermani's aesthetic approach to the Quran is eye-opening. Westerners have difficulty understanding Islam, as it is a religion that has not yet undergone a Reformation. But if Westerners could understand Islam aesthetically, this would allow insight into the Muslim self-image and relationship to God.

This is a difficult book to review because I am not clear what I can even say about it beyond that it is a towering work of academic scholarship. If you want to use this book to inform your knowledge of the Quran, it will not take one reading, or 10 or likely 100 - this would be a resource I anticipate readers returning to dozens of times. This is essentially a life's work of research, presented here in translation. The best summary I could give it would be that to understand the Quran, one must first understand how it sounds, and in how it sounds is the first level of meaning to Islam's adherents. That is a vast simplification, but it's a start.I came to this hoping for more of a layman's explanation, and this is NOT that - so it's best left to those who already have a decent level of understanding and can now delve even more deeply into Quranic study. Anything, in these days, that helps any audience understand Islam and the Quran is a good thing.

It is impossible to use this kind of criteria for such a book on such a subject. This volume is so rich so heady with substance whether discussing the poetry or the causation of poetry in the Quran that it is staggering. For those who are ignorant of the faith of Islam this book though a difficult and challenging read is well worth the time.It is a multi disciplined look at the core of the title as seen in and through Islam. God is beautiful and speaking with a rhythm and in Arabiccan open one to the direct experience of God.A comparison to the effects of prayer from all the main and in extant Father God religions is presented with a knowing and prehensile grasp of the fundamental cores of those faiths.I have to say that I am left speechless by the amount of scholarship this book entails and the beautiful way in which the disciplines of history memory, science, poetry and more are interwoven into a gigantic book that throws a much needed light on the depth and beauty of the Quran not only for non Muslims but for Muslims themselves.I will be re-reading this book and using it as a reference for many years to come and I will be grateful for it has saved the image of God before both Muslim and Non Muslim alike, in this world now polarized by the fictions of those who use God and faith for war and hatred. This is a brilliant intellectual overview of the mystery of faith and the only thing missing is the direct experience itself but for those who ponder such issues this is one of the finest and most approachable books on the God as experienced in and through the Quaran

Navid Kermani is a German Islamic scholar who has been awarded many prizes for his works, the most recent being the “Buber-Rosenzweig Medal” in 2011. This comprehensive and scholarly book shows what Kermani considers the authentic experience of the Quran and its beauty. He points out what others have said about other wrings in a foreign language, whether literature or holy books, that the book cannot be fully understood or even nearly fully understood by people who do not understand Arabic.Kermani introduces readers to the faith of Islam and offers an excellent history of it. He uses many sources and quotes by historians, theologians, philosophers, and mystics.Kermani tells readers about the reactions of the first listeners to the Quran. He describes how the book is composed, the poetry of its text, the sound of its words, and the relationship between the poetry in the Quran and other Islamic poetry. He also speaks about the “miracle” of the Quran. As the publisher’s note: this “book will enhance the dialogue between Islam and the West and will appeal to students and scholars of Islam and comparative religion, as well as to a wide readership interested in Islam and the Quran.”

I have an 11, 9, and 6 year old that I home school. Geography is a class that I view as extremely important, and teach it as a group. I wish I would have purchased this book at the beginning because it would have save a good bit of time in searching for various maps to print. The maps and info are basic, but basic is a great place to start. You will obviously expound on the details based on the level of learning you desire, but this book will be a time saver.

Great for kids. Beats electronic crap

My 5 year old twin grandsons are the "intellectual" type and love anything to do with maps, states or countries. And they love artwork so this coloring book really hit the jackpot!!

Excellent way to learn about our 50 states...the information included is perfect and the shape of each state is outstanding...I am really getting to know our country...thank you for this great book!

My son can both color and label in this coloring book, he loves it!

Thank you it was exactly what I wanted. I can't wait to start coloring the states that I have been to.

I am pleased with the quality of the maps.

Liked this very much.

I was pleasantly surprised with Scott Bowden's book; "Napoleon's Grande Armee of 1813". At first glance it seemed full of charts, diagrams and figures and nearly half the book is made up of Appendices (narrative runs to page 207, appendices and notes from page 211 to 373).However what I enjoyed about the book was that it gave you an insight into Napoleon's Grande Armée of 1813, the make up of the army itself which gave me a better understanding of what its capabilities and limitations were to fight the 1813 campaign. For example, we have all read of the horrendous losses of Napoleon's Grande Armée that marched into Russia in 1812 but I was still amazed when I read the statistics:"Only 1,608 French infantry of I Corps, 1,1910 of II Corps, 1,007 of III Corps, and 1,911 of IV Corps - only 6,436 fantassins present and under arms - were all that remained of the 36 regiments, of the 156 battalions, of the 107,097 wholly French line and light infantry which had once proudly stood in ranks on the eve of the Russian campaign. Instead of an average company strength of 115 officers and other ranks present and under arms, there were, on February 1, 1813, less than 7 officers and other ranks present per company!"Besides the shortfall of experienced combat proven soldiers for the new Grande Armée of 1813 as well as horses, this was the other major issue confronting Napoleon as he prepared for the 1813 campaign:"From all quarters came the hue and cry for more and better officers. From corps commanders, from Imperial aides de camp, from elderly but still tough-minded Marshal Kellermann, they pleaded with Clarke and Napoleon for qualified officers to lead the new troops. It was to little avail. The officer corps of France had perished in Russia. Napoleon could call on the young men of the country to fill the ranks of the new army, but officers could not be easily replaced. Thus, even with every possible source in central Europe turned upside down in search for officers, no matter what promotions were made including those above what regulations allowed, there remained serious gaps in the officer corps for both the infantry and cavalry of the line."This is what Napoleon had to left to which he had to build a complete new army to defend France and fight the allied coalition invading Germany in 1813.The author also provides nice little biographies on quite a few of the French commanders, like Charles Antoine Louis Morand, who the author states;" ... One of the most capable divisional infantry officers in uniform, Morand distinguished himself at Auerstadt, Eylau, Eckmuhl, Wagram, and Borodino. In 1813, Morand led his division at Wartenburg on 3 October 1813, and at Leipzig. At Leipzig, he spearheaded the attack of Bertrand's IV Corps which smashed Gyulai's Austrians on the Lindenau front. He continued his distinguished service record in 1814 and again during the Hundred Days."I came away with a much deeper appreciation for the young soldiers of Napoleon's army and what they achieved against superior odds and other elements that had a bearing on the ability of Napoleon and his men to fight the battles of 1813.If you are looking for a detailed combat analysis of the 1813 campaign you will be disappointed in this book, it offers only a concise account of the battles and skirmishes fought by the opposing forces but if you looking for a reason why and how the campaign proceeded and ended like it did then this would be a good book to start before moving onto some of the campaign histories. This is a book that should be in every Napoleonic library and I enjoyed it so much I have ordered a copy of his account of the 1809 campaign: "Armies on the Danube 1809" by Scott Bowden.

1990, hard bound in dust jacket, 6 x 9, over 370 pp. with dozens of illus & maps. In 1813, Napoleon faced the greatest challenge of his military career. The 1812 army which invaded Russia had perished. Virtually all that remained was the prestige of a glorious name that the Emperor would use to create his new Grande Armee of 1813. This volume represents the first ever English language study of Napoleon's 1813 war machine. From its makeshift creation to its ad-hoc formation... from its many victories to its final cataclysmic defeat at Leipzig... here is the true, complete story of this epic army and its leaders. Written by Scott Bowden, author of Armies at Waterloo and Armies on the Danube 1809, this book was researched almost exclusively from original source documents at the French army archives. As such, Napoleon's Grande Armee of 1813 is brought to life by hundreds of first-hand accounts and returns by French military and civil officials. These accounts and returns, which include new battlefield insights as to troop strengths, capabilities, and combat effectiveness, are unprecedented in their detail and presentation. In addition, Napoleon's Grande Armee of 1813 provides exhaustively detailed orders of battle, researched from the French army archives, including information on the battles of Lutzen, Bautzen, Dresden, Katzbach, Dennewitz, Leipzig, and more. These orders of battle provide exact troop strengths, artillery material, and much, much more for all the various corps of the Grande Armee throughout the year 1813. The 1813 campaign for Germany is difficult to fully grasp without a complete understanding of its central character, Napoleon's Grande Armee of 1813. This story, which tells of the painstaking reconstruction of Napoleon's army, its composition, its strengths and weaknesses, and its fighting power, is an absolute must for any Napoleonic enthusiast, historian or war gamer. Napoleon's Grande Armee of 1813 is a gold mine of information, insights, and the key for understanding the crucial campaign of 1813.

After finishing this book, I realized that for the first time, I feel as though I understand WHY the 1813 campaign unfolded in the manner that it did...what forces were in play that affected Napoleon and his army...reasons that have never before been explained.Everything about the French army and its unbelievable weaknesses are revealed in detail, along with Napoleon's momentous mistakes that kept feeding immature youths that were improperly officered into an already failing organizational structure because the recruits could not be properly trained OR properly fed.If you are interested in the 1813 campaigns, don't miss this one.

I have to follow-up with the previous review. Having been given this book for my birthday by my kids, I was instantly drawn in by Bowden's immense research. However, I also was appalled by the large number of typographic errors, grammatical errors, and use of slang in referring to the sergeants and corporals as "noncomms" instead of as non-commissioned officers. I served in the U.S. Army for 20 years and always called them by either their rank or by the term non-commissioned officers (or its abbreviation - NCOs). I also wonder how much error has crept into the amazing appendices. But I guess we'll never know until someone goes and checks out the French archives originals. Otherwise a useful book on this oft neglected campaign.

Read this many years ago but having seen it as one of the most read books in America had to do so again. You'll either hate the lunatic character or find him to be an unforgettable star. character or wan o hug him.

I wanted the novel in full. I have read this many years ago and wanted my husband to read it. I did not realize that is was just an outline. Very disappointed but my fault I know.

The book is FUNNY. There are poor people in the book - they have personality and character. The reviewer sees the book as a commentary on social injustice. HA. If anything it is a jeering criticism of nit-witted social justice warriors. The Book is a 5 of 5. The Review of the book is AWFUL

Is this book for you? Let me state some questions, each one a little harder than the last. Is your child under the age of 6? If yes, then this book will probably work, if older, I'd really suggest a book for older kids. Are you at your wits end with the yelling, fighting at every turn and constant nagging to get simple things done with your child? If yes, then maybe this book IS for you. Have you noticed your current parenting methods are simply not working? If yes, then possibly, this book is for you. Lastly, the hardest question of all, are you willing to admit that you are most likely the biggest part of the problem with your child's misbehavior? If you can answer this question yes, then this book WILL work for you. But it does require you to dig deep and examine your own past, your own feelings, and your own problems and accept and work to fix them before your child will ever respond to these practices in the book.A little background on us: I have been struggling with my 2 year old daughter. She is very high needs, she is very stubborn and extremely intelligent. Add her constantly not feeling well from ear infections and eventually a perforated ear drum from tube malfunction, she was just rotten. A few months ago we were headed down an awful road. Tantrums every night, timeouts, me frustrated and angry and feeling like I've been through a war every night after she finally went to sleep. I cried everyday, I loved her but nothing was working, I didn't want to be THAT parent that broke her spirit but she wasn't listening to anything I said, she was getting violent, throwing things, hitting, just all around angry. I started reading this book out of sheer desperation, I was lost and felt completely alone and the ultimate failure. In the few weeks I've started the practices in this book, both Lise and I have done a 180. The tantrums are few and far between, and when they are there, they are short and very manageable. Lise has become affectionate with both her daddy and I. She freely gives kisses and hugs when before she refused any affection. She listens to what I say, she has started playing by herself and not demanding my attention 24/7. It's crazy and wonderful, I understand her feelings better and she's getting better at expressing whats going on and even more, handling her emotions and working through them herself. I just can't say enough, time outs, spanking all that is completely gone in our house. Even the word NO is very rarely used. Lise has started understanding and respecting our limits with little to no toddler stubbornness. She wants to make us happy and I can literally see the confidence building in her. Things aren't perfect, but they are absolutely better. At first reading this book, I was like um, no, there is no way that this could work. My wild child will walk all over me when I start this so called "love" parenting. But as I mentioned, I was desperate. I didn't want to spank her, I didn't want to drag her kicking and screaming to timeout, I didn't want to isolate her or be constantly telling her no she can't do that, no she can't do this, no, no, no. I knew deep down what I was doing wasn't right regardless of what family members suggested based on their experiences. They told me to come down hard on her now or she will only get worse. I was angry, she was angry, we both had no idea what to expect from each other that day, so we both went into the day guarded and short tempered. I knew I loved her dearly, and I tried my best to try the old school parenting practices with her but it was only making her worse. Yes, she listened most of the time based on threats when we were out in public or at someones house, but I now know that was only because I was humiliating her and would've done it further by spanking her or forcing timeout in front of people she simply wanted to interact with. I know what you are thinking, she is only 2, 2 year olds don't think on that level, but mine does. I can't speak for yours. Once I'd bring her home, the "old school" practices would break down, and I would be forced to yell, time out, and spank. Tantrums would be hours long, kicking, screaming (screaming on both of our parts) and hitting. The child lived in time out. It simply wasn't working. I was desperate for any alternative, and i thought, well, she is already unmanageable, what more could this do...So I started doing little things as I read them in the book. Before I was even done, I saw changes in her. Dramatic changes. I'm currently on my second round reading it. She wants to listen to us, yes she is a toddler, but often with a simple compromise, or a promise (that is ALWAYS kept on my part) to come back when time allows for whatever activity she is involved in, we can get through just about anything without screaming, or acting like a wild child. We understand each other so much better, we talk, we laugh, we have a blast together...I look forward to continuing this peaceful approach for the rest of her life. I'm sure there will be breakdowns, yelling, but I'm confident that we can work through just about anything together.

Like my father and his father before him, I was an angry dad. Like my wife's mother and grandmother, my wife was controlling and touchy. Our three kids (13, 11, & 9) were inflicted with our poor parenting and things were getting worse. After a dramatic event at home, I sought knowledge. I found Dr. Markham's blog and read and read and read some more. My wife and I sought out a good counselor to speak with. And I bought this excellent book. Three months later, we have peace in our houme. We are now better parents and getting better all the time. The book sits on my nightstand and even just reading the cover is a comfort and a guide. Stop yelling. Start connecting. It is a JOY.Thank you so much Dr. Markham.Thank you.Thank you.

This book is eveything I ever hoped for. I grew up in a household where I was constantly yelled at for discipline. As a child, I early on started yelling back at my parents and always hated it, wanting to stop and not knowing how. Then as a parent I saw myself yelling at my daughter, not knowing what to do. I texted a friend asking for a good recommendation on a parenting book and she immediately recommended this one. From there my life has completely changed. Within months I was able to go from yelling multiple times a day to yelling maybe once a month (and forgiving myself for the slip-ups!). I love parenting. I'm constantly connecting with my daughter and really seeing the joys of raising a child. I went from dreading parenting to enjoying being a stay-at-home mom. My daughter (at 2) can now begin to solve her own problems with gentle guidance. She pinpoints her emotions and is empathetic when I feel sad or frustrated as well. What I adore is that the book is based on studies, not just the author's opinion. As I studied Human Development in college, this really appeals to my science-minded mentality. I am so thankful I was recommended this book when my daughter was still very young. My whole family is more peaceful and happier. I cannot even express in words the difference this book made in loving and caring for my child and in loving myself. I only hope it can help your family as much as it helped mine.

100% changed my parenting style and improved my children's behavior immediately. I wish I would have read this earlier.....

My book was defective. And I read not even half of it- it was so boring, repetitive, and basically states that our children’s “bad” behavior is ok. It’s not ok- although I do agree on showing them more love and compassion since they are still developing. Another thing they mention is how we are facing our issues with our past childhood- not everyone had a damaging childhood so I don’t know why they talk so much about it. I was really looking forward to this book but I couldn’t get myself to read anymore.

I started reading this about 3 wks ago and have seen dramatic, positive change in my relationship w/ my 6 yr old daughter. This helped me identify where I could be better as a parent as far as controlling my own emotions, and how to help her work through her emotions in a positive way. I liked that it wasn't just conceptual, but gave very clear actions that I could implement. Really great for overcoming power struggles and control issues.
