Exquisite! I've read it at least a half dozen times or more, and it gets better with each return to Reading and the wonderful characters!!! Cannot say enough how much I love it, and dream of the day Fforde gives us a third book in the series! If you like his other books, if you enjoy clever word play and inventive use of old ideas in New, interesting, engaging ways, then you will enjoy this book. Give yourself a refresher in old school, Mother Goose, English and American nursery rhymes to get the full effect and benefit of the humor.

Once again, Fforde offers a good mystery and very funny characters. Who killed Humpty Dumpty? One of his many lovers? His ex-wives? A business rival? The investigation winds through many twists and interrogations of Nursery Rhyme characters, to answer those and other questions. The premise and character names are hilarious. This is another in Fforde’s comical series. Please read this book for a good laugh. Follow this author!

but maybe a bit too silly? I really enjoyed Fforde's Thursday Next series. I really liked some of the characters in that. In this, I didn't care very much. Jack Spratt and Mary Mary grew on me a bit, but not enough to make me anxious to read the next chapter. It might just be that I am in a different stage of life now. One other thing in the Thursday Next series was that the characters go into and out of the various books so it's more of an adventure than I felt this one was.

Clever, hilarious, and a well-written police procedural to boot: this book was an absolute delight to read. From murder victim Humpty Dumpty to aging mob boss Giorgio Porgia,, you'll find yourself mentally rehearsing nursery rhymes (or Googling unfamiliar ones). Experience with reading Mother Goose rhymes to small children will be a plus. I don't give out five stars lightly; this book is a delight.

Clever storytelling, great characters, masterful writing, and best of all, breath-taking absurdity presented as utterly prosaic. I've never yet read a Jasper Fforde novel that wasn't a complete delight. I'll be happly starting the next book in this series the instant I finish this review.

Plenty of word play makes this a enjoyable read. Luckily, this was one of his I had not yet read.a great send up.

What are you waiting for? Jasper Fforde is an excellent writer! He seamlessly blends the silly and the serious into an excruciatingly well written novel.

A lot more fun than I expected--I really enjoyed this. By the way, this is not for kids!

While this was required reading for a required college course, and I have ZERO interest in the subject matter of this book, (sorry!) I really enjoyed reading it. My mind and world-view was greatly expanded. What could be dry material is entertaining and well written. I'm glad they "MADE" me read this. I have referred back even after that class was over.

The bible of one of the worst and slickest economic cults ever devised, globalism as designed by the oligarchs. A recipe for disrespecting the middle and lower classes and concentrating political, economic, educational and information power in the hands of a very few families who mean us no good. Exactly what the Founding Fathers warned us about and we missed our cue to act. Too late now. We let Grover Norquist drown our democracy in his bath tub. To cleans your mind, follow with Naomi Klein's, The Shock Doctrine, and Sam Pizzigati's, The Rich Don't Always Win. It will probably take a year to finish Shock Doctrine but is well worth the time.

This book addresses some of the difficulties of globalization the study of which is especially pertinent today when the world seems to be shifting to isolationism and populism. The pendulum had maybe swung too far towards the Lexus at the expense of the Olive Tree and people want change from the status quo, all over the world. These very issues are addressed in this prophetic book. Thanks for another great read, Tom Friedman!

After reading it you you start to question if it was actually written at the end of the 1990s.It is impressive to see how clearly Thomas Friedman does what he also calls Information Arbitrage in pulling episodes and events from disparate parts of the world and in a wide variety of topics into one cohesive world view: globalization.The framework he proposes for globalization is the simplest and most useful I've ever read about and it sure made me understand much more of our world.A wonderful work of research, analysis and specially of writing went into this book.Funny thing: the book is super current even though it never mentions Google (because it was just a tiny company at the time).I'm already reading "The World is Flat" by the same author. The globalization of the world's economy is a phenomenon of the world after the demise of the Soviet Union. Friedman gives a brilliant tour de force of the causes and results of worldwide financial markets acting in accordance with their own perceived self-interest, bestowing wealth and new investment in countries based upon their potential to return a profit to investers. But he also describes what happens when the "Electronic Herd" of investors get spooked by unanticipated threats to their investments. Because countries differ widely in their ability to absorb and efficiently use investment capital, there are wide fluctuations in investment, with consequential social and economic damage as capital moves across national boundaries with the speed of a mouse click. Friedman uses an anecdotal approach it illustrate his points, and in the end, they coalesce into his principal themes, that predictability, transparency, and accountability are the standards against which all investment will be measured, and those who are unable or refuse to abide by these norms will suffer accordingly. About the Author

Ulrica Norberg is the author of several books, including Hatha Yoga, Power Yoga, and Yin Yoga. A highly respected yoga instructor around the world, she has been teaching for nearly twenty years and has trained more than five hundred teachers. She has done extensive studies in yoga, alignment principles, anatomy, and energetics. In 2002 she discovered yin yoga through Paulie Zink and has since studied with Sarah Powers and Paul Grilley. She has also embraced restorative yoga as a complement to more vigorous practices. She took her restorative training with Mona Anand and Gina Menza and learned the ISHTA approach through them. Ulrica is known for her deep knowledge and for her inspirational and warm approach. She lives in Sweden.

I ordered this book to learn the moves and poses. Unfortunately all the pictures with poses are 1 inch in size and all the pictures of the author staring out into space or pictures of the bottom of her feet are full page. I don't know who edited this book, but it is more of a promotion of her modeling then restorative yoga. I only gave it 2 stars because she has some good 1 inch pictures. Don't buy this book if you want to be able to actually see how the poses are suppose to be done.

This book is a beautiful read with wonderful pictures, however, I was looking for a book focused on postures and flows for instructors. I would consider this book more for a beginner of restorative yoga with an at-home practice. I should have read the other reviews before I purchased it.

This is a lovely book about yoga and how it moves you into more positive directions. The restorative poses are short, but well described. I consider it a great companion book the Judith Hanson Lasater's Relax and Renew.
