Rick Steves gets so much crap for being Mr. Everything in travel these days but I have to say his book on Italy is much more detailed and useful in comparison to the Lonely Planet edition. Get over his over-exposure and take advantage of the wealth of know-how he shares - at least for those planning to travel to Italy

A book with something for everyone. Provides information on transportation, remote areas to see, suggestion for avoiding long lines even where to find a laundry mat. This is a must have for people who are independent travelers longing for the best way to see and discover Italy.

My wife and I used this guide extensively while we were in Italy and it was invaluable. Well written, with just the right amount of detail and easy to use maps. Really enhanced the quality of our touring. Probably not the best for hotel recommendations, but those can be made via many online travel booking web sites.

I love Lonely Planet and their books. Their Italy book provided us with everything we needed for our two week trip to Italy from restaurant recommendations to what you need to do to prepare to travel abroad.

I purchased this book as a gift for my brother and his wife, who are going to Italy for their honeymoon. Although I haven’t read this one personally, I have a few other Lonely Planet travel books and find them very helpful, and often have off the beaten path recommendations! Would recommend these books to anyone planning to travel, but unsure of where to go!

This has really good information about transportation, lodging, meals, activities, festivals, local customs, and specifics about the cities by region along with a really big pull-out map of Rome in the very back. I'm taking a cruise so a lot of it didn't apply to me, but I still found it helpful. I wish it had more information about activities, like excursions, tours, tour operators, types of activities, etc. Can you imagine that this book doesn't mention anything about beaches, boating, fishing or diving and it's on the Mediterranean Ocean? It's about internal Italy. There is miniscule mention when it reviews Sardinia.

Filled with great insight. The only downside is that the print is small...

I have read this book in the past and have used it for 2 or 3 Bible studies in the past. I recently, used this again in the fall of 2018. Led an 8 week Bible study on Nehemiah and Swindoll brings out many good points. You learn of the many facets of leadership (home, church and career). This includes having a plan, prayer, persevere, don't be discouraged and listening.

thank you for allowing me to purchase this book. it is wonderful. several months ago, I heard a sermon on Nehemiah from chuck swindoll. he often goes where most pastors refuse to go which is deep subjects without candy coating the issue. yet, he keeps things simple and practical. I wish most pastors were this way. yet, most pastors and Christians alike have the attitude I don't do anything wrong because im a Christian

This is one of those books you buy because you are studying the topic of the book in a grad school class, but you find out it is a great book to read. Used it to write a research paper on Nehemiah, but read it front to back because it was so good. My professor first said it was not scholarly enough for a source in my paper but I asked him to look through it and he changed his mind, and told me I could use it because it covered the assigned topic, leadership skills of Nehemiah, so well.

Chuck Swindoll was my pastor for some years in Fullerton, CA. This is a great book....but then he's never written anything but great books.

Oh my God, this book reminded me of the vision God gave me when I first became the Pastor of the church ⛪️ I’m at. I shared with the members that God wanted us to build on the vision of the previous Pastor.

This book is very inspiring with great examples from the Book of Nehemiah. It is practical and simple to apply. I am thoroughly enjoying it.

I read this as an assignment, then did a character study on Nehemiah. I got a 97% I truthfully enjoyed reading this book.

Great book on leadership, but can preach many things from it background information. Swindoll does a great job with Jeiwsh history and what evolved around bringing the Jews back to Canaan. I had a 1990's version of Atlas of American History - and we ordered this to get newer maps and charts. It is still a great source for telling history via map changes, BUT the editors added commentary along with the maps which are meant to get a feel for the era, but they are very slanted to the left. They also changed maps - for instance, when showing the growth in the Southwest (Arizona, Texas, New Mexico), they deliberately left out the Gadsden purchase - a purchase which was fundamentally necessary for transcontinental train travel in the south. If you're a liberal person, you won't even see it. If you read and know history, you'll see the subtlety very clearly. I would recommend the book, but the changes make it too biased for young eyes.

Very nice, bought it for homeschool but my husband likes to pick it up and look at it too.

A picture really is worth a thousand words. Despite being a history major in college, I still found it challenging to genuinely absorb the content coming off the written page (the many thousands my eyes covered). Here you have a fascinating collection of maps and charts on all the major topics in American history. It's oriented towards teenagers, or so I'd estimate, but I think it has great value for eager minds of any age.

Not that deep into the history, but it covers what is necessary. It was a good review of High School, but written better with a bit higher reading level.

This book works well for my 6th grader

It is a good price, and well made. The artwork is obviously bitmap scans of older and better books, however, so pixelation is obvious and everpresent throughout. There are smaller, cheaper, black-bound volumes available of each individual book with hand-redrawn artwork that looks much better (though those books have their flaws as well). The content is the same in all of these lapsed-copyright reproductions so it really comes down to which one you think looks good on your shelf, and this one is not bad at all.

Saw the movie the Nun. Valak the demon whom the nun is based off is a demon found in the lesser keys of Salomon. The book feels nice in your hands. The book gave me nightmares. Got rid of book. Great deal on a book to fill your head with demons. Fun experience.

It was an excellent book. Very informative and Loved reading about King Solomon's experiences with the knowledge,Understanding and Wisdom givin to him. It was also Very sad.... but a lesson that teaches who reads. Wonder if there is a book that goes more in detail about the magic and the cleansing before the magic and how to go it in more detail....

Is what I ordered and a pretty good read if a little bit hard to believe.

I would not recommend this book to children, as the content is for mature people. Parts are scary but it is a great read in small doses.

Just to give a little info on book contents - this product is mainly a listing of works by Cheret with date and size. There are smaller (2"x3") black and white poster examples peppered among the listings on these pages. The middle third of this book is then full color examples of his better known works. Other than this, there is a little 2 or 3 page history of the artist in the beginning of the book and a few pages of the smaller black and white examples organized in a grid layout at the end of the book. I consider it a wonderful reference but wanted to warn others that it wasn't all large full color examples like some books of this type.

This is the authoritative source for all the artwork and posters of Jules Cheret, who perfected color lithography in the late 1800's. There are a number of color slides of original Jules Cheret posters plus excellent descriptive information to help one identify a suspected Jules Cheret poster. The catalog is by theme or advertiser without an index or table of contents to help one located the exact page where, let's say, Moulin-Rouge or Olympia might start. This does then force scanning to find the start of the catagory one might want - an inconvenience. In spite of this, once you discover the catagory area, the material is informative and precise enough to help with identification.

About the Author

Michael and Debi Pearl have been married since 1971. They have 5 children and 21 grandchildren. Between them they have authored 14 books and 8 booklets which combined have sold millions. One of their recent books, Good and Evil (Bible stories in Marvel comic format), has been published into 40 languages with another 60 translations soon to be ready for press. On another note, Michael is an inductee into the International Knife Throwers Hall of Fame and holds several world titles, including Gold Cup winner of 2008-9, long distance thrower of the year with a record all time high of hitting a four inch target at 63 feet, and he is the undisputed best tomahawk thrower of 2009, holding the world title. I got this for my 7yr old grandson because he has an interest in the Bible and I thought a comic book would further his interest. I'm so glad that I read it before I gave it to him...it has great content but he may be a little too young for some of the adult content. This would be ideal for the teens and tweens! Great illustrations and dialogue! Relevant for the present time too.

I wanted a Bible story book to keep my kids in bed while I did my devotions.....this did the trick! My kids are learning to have devotions with this book and Im getting mine done without interuptions! I like that the stories are exactly as the Bible describes. Caution! It doesnt sugar coat any of the Bible stories....my daughter came to me later and said "Did you know Peter was crucified upside down?" We love this book and the kids even ask daddy to read it to them at night.

If you're looking for a supplement to reading the gospel for a younger reader (I would recommend this for ages 8 and older) this should be a good gift. Price is reasonable and considering what you get for your purchase this is almost a steal in my opinion. I have not been disappointed!

The Pearls did a wonderful job on this book. We bought the original black & white version and our children read it many times before it finally fell apart. Since the black & white is no longer available, I purchased the color version. It has the same content that we love. It tells the chronological account of creation to the end times. We all enjoy reading it! My first choice is still the black & white.

Excellent graphic novel. I already owned a copy of it, but ordered this one for a friend who is interested in getting started in reading the Bible, but wants to graphics to help him get a better grasp of it through visual applications. A great help to someone who hates reading to get a better understanding of the Bible on their first experience of it.
