This book is the one! I never cared about Math at school, I would not pay attention at class and then I would study or practice just enough to pass the tests! Actually LEARNING and UNDERSTANDING Math was always a pending subject for me. I just moved to the US so I want to take the SAT and get a high score, what would allow me to get into a good 4 year university, but of course, being good at Math is a must. This book teaches you Math from the beginning, without missing a single step it gives you a strong foundation that will allow you to easily advance into more complex stuff. It is amazing how much I am learning and how much I am enjoying it. I can be sitting for hours with the book and I stop only because I have to, I am not exaggerating, this is exactly what I was looking for!

I have to take a Compass test, and I'm so glad I got this book. It's very user-friendly. It's been over ten years since I've taken any math courses and let's just say I'd even forgotten the basic order of operations. This book is a great brush-up on your math skills all the way to basic calculus. The only thing that I wish the publishers/authors would add would be more worksheets/problems on each section. You learn a section and they only give you ten problems to do and then a practice test. I guess I could go to http://alphamaths.org/ or itunes has online free "classes" too.

I teach students of ALL ages and everyone -- from 6th graders preparing for higher grades and math enrichment through adults studying for the GRE and GMAT -- EVERYONE loves this book. Most topics on the SSAT and GRE are covered with clear, simple explanations and practice sets that make sense. No one ever feels talked down to. I do need to supplement this one book with other materials for more practice and more topics/concepts, but this does the trick very very well for many many students in many ways.

I hate math. I’ve always struggled with it, but this book is incredible. Great explanations that clearly reveal the logic behind the steps. Definitely a great place to start if you’re brushing up for the GRE.

I have been using E-Z math to tutor students from other countries or High School drop outs and it appears to me that it is one of the best textbooks for this purpose.I highly recommend it.We have been loaning it to the students and hope we will get them back when they are finished with it.That however does not happen too often.I am hoever very happy this book is available.Klaas LIndemulder,volunteer Math. I highly recommend this book, but only if you like stories that are more concerned with telling a fun story than with being realistic. If you want something that seems reasonable or reality based, this is not the book for you. The plot is not like any I have read before. I won't even say it's always believable, but I read this one in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. I laughed so hard my sides hurt. Not only am I planning to read the rest of the series, I will probably read this one over and over again! Loved it!!!

The tasting premise is great, the plot is mostly believable, and the heroine saves herself instead of being saved by others. But I didn't care for the language, and the constant asides for humor didn't touch my usually very responsive funny-bone at all. It seemed forced, and was often irritating.At first I read with pleasure and happy anticipation, but as the taster kept being so greatly affected by the poisons herself despite recognizing them, I wondered what the point was in her having the skills. Add the constant sexual references and borderline language, and I gradually lost most of my interest.Even though the story features a cliched heroine with a messed-up personal life and shallow reasons for being attracted to her partner, I do think that its author has talent, and if she weren't working so hard to make the book commercially appealing, I think she could probably produce some high-class, even great literature. The writing, even as is, is pretty good.However, yes, I do know that my take on it reflects my personal taste.For example, I prefer mysteries where the particular skills of the protagonists keep them out of trouble for the most part as they solve crimes. To me, the point of a cozy mystery is that it is NOT a story that repeatedly puts its 'hero/heroine" in danger--that sort of story is for the "action/adventure" genre. I like mysteries that are more intellectual, and that leave adventuring and suspense to the rest of the characters while the 'detective' cleverly figures out what is going on. Just because the sleuth is not in the thick of the action does not mean that his or her character has to be two-dimensional; he or she can still be developed into a delightfully well-rounded person that we can grow fond of.That's my take on it.

I love finding a new author that's GOOD and Aussie Chelsea Field is very good indeed.Here's the setup in Eat Pray Die - Isobel (Izzy) Avery is an Aussie hiding from a loan shark her scumbag ex-husband owes money and expects her to pay up. So she takes a dangerous job. One person in hundreds of thousands can taste poison and poison has become the weapon of choice for assassins. So the rich hire tasters - like kings did in the Middle Ages where the condemned often became the King's taster. The difference is the odds of survival for these rare people are much higher thanks to their weird genetic anomaly, the same one that lets them taste and identify poisons. Izzy just finished training and has her first case - or so she thinks, but he's really her final test, until a client dies and he has to reveal himself as part of the investigative branch So as he recovers from the poison he deliberately introduced into her food at breakfast, Izzy finds herself caught up in an investigation and trying to avoid the legbreaker, Mr Black, sent the by the Aussie loan shark and dealing with her easy going male apartment mate and the horny older woman across the hall. Her 'client' turned trainer and Taster investigator, too handsome for his own good, Connor, all get introduced while she tags along on the poison investigation of one of the Society's client's.Izzy turns out to have a knack for trouble and her attraction to Connor is sort of like cuddling up to a glacier. But she also i good at unraveling puzzles, like murders - in her own stumbling fashion. Not so good at avoiding Mr Black. At over 300 pages, it was a fresh, fast paced, amusing read with likable and believable characters and a satisfying mystery. Worth the money for the ebook!

This is a very different detective(?) story. I have never read _any_ even vaguely similar. I loved it. The characters are interesting. The back story is unique in my experience. And I read a _lot_ (bibliophile of the 1st order). There's a hint of sex, but nothing much for a rather prudish person, such as myself, to really complain about. Oh, yes, and the writing itself (grammar, spelling, etc.) is excellent, making it easy to read. Did I mention that once I post this, I'm buying the rest of the books in the series?

I really wanted to love this book. I'm always on the lookout for a new author with a unique premise. When I read the other reviews, humor was mentioned throughout. I didn't find any of those laugh out loud moments. I do like the idea of the protagonist becoming a detective because of the poison, rather than just the run of the mill "in the wrong place at the wrong time" scenario found in most books. I'm willing to give the second book a look, just to see if I'm missing something.

Food tasters have been around as long as there has been wealthy or powerful people. I mean, what does it matter if the taster falls over dead of poison as long as the client stays healthy? Well written, very entertaining, filled with action, suspense, mystery, humor, romance and very unique characters. You will love Connor and Isobel....I have very high hopes for these two in the upcoming books in the series. Chelsea Field has written a winner and I cannot wait for the next books in the series. Better than comparable books, and I've purchased and/or looked through most of them.It's useful to read this as you teach your teenager to drive, but it's even more useful to get your teenager to read it. I had my teen read one chapter before each driving outing as a condition for the lesson. Despite her best efforts, she picked up a lot of useful information.Lbedt of luck to your teen driver.

I taught my twins how to drive using this book. I thought it was an excellent book about being thorough in the skills you need to drive. Both kids got permits at 15 and now, at age 20 neither one of them has ever been in an accident. One of the one-star reviewers said you'd never learn to drive because it had too much in it, but driving is something people need to take SERIOUSLY as you can kill yourself and half a dozen other innocent people being untrained or just careless. I used the books to create checklists for my kids - six each. We'd go out for an hour every weekend and go through a checklist, and they couldn't move forward until that list was mastered. We even took his advice and found an empty road where I put up an orange cone and had the kids hard-brake and steer around it to practice a kid running into the road or something similar. I found my daughter was initially timid about slamming the brakes as needed and it took a few times to teach her that in an emergency forceful braking could be necessary. We used snow days to likewise practice emergency maneuvers in icy parking lots. PLEASE don't put your half-trained kid on the road with me, or mine.

I wish every parent and new driver could read this book--the roads would be safer. The book gave me ideas and a format to follow to teach specific technical concepts that experienced drivers do without really consciously thinking about. It is written by a dad, so the perspective is personal and realistic. As a parent, there are so many things to teach a new driver that fall outside the scope of drivers ed that I hadn't really thought about until reading this book.

High school Drivers' Education courses are woefully inadequate to the serious task of training young, easily distractable people what to do in actual real-life road conditions. More teens are killed in car accidents due to simple driver error than due to drugs and alcohol combined. It's time for parents to step in and supplement their kids' education with much-needed skills. "Crash-proof your teens" will help you do that. Presented in a simple step-by-step method, this book will lead you through the difficult maze of helping your kids to be safe and fearless drivers. You may also come out of it a safer driver yourself.(My 17-year-old daughter was killed in a car crash caused by simple driver error. The driver was also killed, as well as another teen in their car and a 9-year-old in the car they crashed into. I wish that this book would have been part of that young driver's training. Maybe all four girls would still be alive.)

I have been using the recommendations and following the prescribed practice tasks while teaching my son to drive. He is responding very positively, and seems to really appreciate the fact that I care enough to be reading the book and following the course with him. The book has me thinking of things to talk about with him that I would not have thought about on my own. So many things about driving we just take for granted after all these years, but the book reminds us that these little things must be learned and gives us recommendations as to how to introduce them. My mother gave me the keys to the car and I drove home from getting my permit. How scarey is that? That's just not an option today, and this book outlines a complete course of practice that will definately help me to help my son be a better driver. I am very pleased with it.

A very informative book on understanding the importance of young people driving a vehicle.

This book was probably very helpful when it was current but at this point, over 10 years later, it is outdated. I was also hoping for more illustrations.:(

This is a must for new drivers or those learning. It is packed with a wealth of information. Highly recommend.
